First, I have to understand what is scene solution. Even usual dialogue can be written with a touch of paradox. It means you can have two people discussing the weather but in that moment wolves are searching for a breakfast on the background.
It had influence on me — I became obsessed with that idea of scene solution. And I broke a leg on thoughts which paradox I can add to the scene — so I forgot what is actually happening in the scene. I was careful about form but not about theme and message. This was being connected with period in my life. I wanted to have attention but not to create a connection which is a primary task of culture and screenwriting as a part of that. And I ignored possibilities to make something brief — I choosed the fleur and the tension and the godbless lovely sound.
Arabov couldn’t know that was going to happen. My irresponsibility led me to conclusion that I was trapped by that scene solution idea. I partly blamed him and his manner of making life and art. Till now I have been trying to conquer his influence on me. He is like a big big papa such as greek god you wanna get down to feel you are being cool.
The second thing: once I performed in front of him and the audience with an idea of romantic comedy. With a drop of mystery which I thought he would appreciate. He liked fantastic grotesque elements. Once he liked my screenplay because as he said I got a metaphor on the centre of plot and this method is being used by him for all his life not only in movies but also in poetry. In youth he had a rock band called Perpetum Mobile — this can convey his love for that stuff... After I had performed he said: Gleb, you need to be strictly punished by some girl and this sweet sweet home pissing you have will be reformed and you gonna get it right because in fact I would start this piece with the place you finish.
So the credo of my master was significant and after graduating I met that girl — natural witch not to say the bitch. I love her all in all, fairly, after betrayal. My heart was broken in thousand pieces and I had a labyrinth of reflections in the box package.
Yuri Nikolaevich sent me through the arc of sufferings. I am not a buddhist and not a soul surfer yet but I could set another vision of scene. So now I am not surprised with betrayal of best friend and oral sex ran by 48 techniques in order to get a godbless lovely sound.
